explanation: Located on Germany-Austria border in Bavarian Alps, Zugspitze is the highest peak of Germany at 2962m. The summit is easily accessible from both German and Austrian sides via 2 cable cars and a cog railway, the latter departing from Garmisch-Partenkirchen reaches Zugspitzplatt station near a glacier at 2588m through the last long tunnel. The first recorded climbing was realized by a German surveying squad led by Lieutenant Josef Naus on 27 August 1820. The surrounding area owns many excellent ski stations.
