explanation: Capital of Mie prefecture. Located on Ise bay and formally called Anotsu, Tsu is one of the 3 famous ancient harbors. Since the construction of a castle by Todo Takatora in Edo period, it had become a prosperous castle town and a post town on the road to Ise shrine. Tsu is now a center of textile and mechanical industries. The surrounding plain is cultivating rice and vegetables while on the cost, a seaweed (nori). Senjuji temple is well known. explanation: Located in the west of Aomori prefecture, Tsugaru hanto is surrounded in the west by Japan sea, the east by Mutsu bay and the north by Tsugaru strait. The eastern region is mountainous while the western region forms a rich Tsugaru plain. A legend says that tracked by enemies, Yoshitsune fled to Hokkaido from Tappizaki (flying dragon) cap at the extreme north with his horse transformed to a dragon. Now, you can reach Hokkaido through the world's longest Seikan tunnel.

explanation: Strait separating Hokkaido from Honshu and connecting Japan sea with Pacific ocean. The length from west to east is about 100km while from north to south between 20 and 50km. The deepest point is about 450m. Until 1988 there exited a railroad link by ferry between Aomori and Hakodate cities. Now you can traverse the strait through Seikan railroad tunnel.
